LOCAL PAINTER
Jean-Michel Lartigaud
In 1965, Jean-Michel Lartigaud visited the Aubusson tapestry school in the company of Alexandre Bonnier, his painting teacher at the Beaux-Arts. Discovering there a possible extension of his painting, he entered the following year at the National School of Decorative Arts, located on July Island in Aubusson. He thus begins a collaboration with different manufacturers who weave his creations. Jean-Michel Lartigaud continued painting at the same time and acquired his status as a professional painter in 1973 (La Maison des Artistes – Paris). He continues his research by varying supports and materials such as engraving, collage, terracotta. His meeting with Henri de Vazelhes allowed him to create silkscreen prints.
Currently, his works are scattered in many countries and have been acquired by public and private collections. The Kubaba collection (University of Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne) illustrates the covers of its publications with certain works by Jean-Michel Lartigaud.
